Greater Cleveland is a world corporate center, consistently ranking among the top 10 cities in which Fortune 1000 companies maintain their corporate headquarters.  These industrial giants include companies like Eaton, Rockwell Automation, Timken, Diebold, and Parker Hannifin, along with hundreds of growing, advanced manufacturers. NASA also maintains the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. 

The Cleveland region is the worldwide leader in plastics manufacturing, innovation and commercialization. Goodyear, PolyOne, Sherwin Williams, RPM International and Step2 are just a few of the global brands that call the Cleveland region home.

Cleveland Clinic & Biotechnology

Cleveland's largest employer, the Cleveland Clinic, consistently ranks as the nation’s best cardiac care center. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation has the nation's largest hospital-based department of biomedical engineering. To capitalize on this strength, the State of Ohio invested $60 million into the Cleveland Clinic’s $250 million Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC) to attract, incubate and accelerate cardiovascular related companies.

Cleveland's research base for the biotechnology and biomedical industry has tripled in recent years, from $50 million to $150 million. More than 100 biotechnology firms are located in northeast Ohio, along with more than 100 research laboratories. 

BioEnterprise is a business formation, recruitment, and acceleration initiative designed to attract outside venture capital into the Cleveland region for biomedical start-up opportunities. In just 5 years, the organization has generated more than $500 million in new VC funding, making the Cleveland region stronger in VC recruitment than many states as a whole.

Arts, Culture & Entertainment

Cleveland is first-class cultural destination. Five miles (8 km) east of downtown Cleveland is University Circle, the most concentrated square mile of art, cultural, educational, and medical institutions in the nation.  The University Circle area includes the Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Severance Hall, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Western Reserve Historical Society, Case Western Reserve University, and University Hospitals.  Nearby is Playhouse Square Center, the second largest performing arts center in the country behind Lincoln Center in New York City.

Cleveland is home to the I. M. Pei-designed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, located on the Lake Erie waterfront.  Neighboring attractions include Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Great Lakes Science Center, and the Cleveland Lakefront/Headlands Beach State Parks.  Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, just west of Cleveland, is ranked as the best roller-coaster destination in the world, and the nearby Kalahari Resorts is the largest indoor waterpark in the country.

Sports & Recreation

Greater Cleveland has a full range of spectator and participant sports with professional teams in baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer, including the Cleveland Indians (Baseball), Cleveland Browns (Football), and Cleveland Cavaliers (Basketball). Major professional and amateur events in golf, boxing, bowling, swimming, tennis, polo and horseracing are hosted regularly, and there is a wide range of outdoor and indoor facilities for year-round sports activity.   There are more than 200 public and private golf courses in the area.  With 150 parks, in-county park districts and MetroParks, 17 Ohio state parks and the renown Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the region offers more than 129,000 acres of stunning parkland to explore. Water sport enthusiasts enjoy about 100 miles of Lake Erie shoreline with many private and public marinas, and numerous inland lakes, reservoirs, rivers and streams. Cleveland Lakefront State Park, which includes Edgewater Beach, Euclid Beach and Mentor Headlands, and Huntington Beach, annually attract hundreds of thousands of people.
